Surface temperatures goes up and down through the influence of natural climate variability factors.
During the satellite era there have been two particularly notable ‘spikes’ upwards of temperature (i) 1993-98 and (ii) 2021-2024 – see the figure below from ‘Natural and Anthropogenic Climate Variability – Volume Two’.

Clearly, these upwards spikes followed by downward ‘return’ to long-run trends cannot in any way be caused by CO2.
The temperature spikes were not accompanied (or preceeded) by spikes in CO2 level. Even following the assertion ‘Anthropogenic emissions cause Global Warming’, there is no way CO2 could be blamed for the temperature spike. It defies all logic to blame this is so.
Nevertheless, the alarmist media do not miss the chance to point out 2024, 2023 and 2025 as the ‘hottest years ever’ and call for urgent ‘Climate Action’ of stopping the burning of fossil fuels.
According to the EU's Copernicus Climate Change: “The planet logged its third hottest year on record in 2025, extending a run of unprecedented heat, with no relief expected in 2026, global climate monitors said Wednesday. The reports come as efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions -- the main driver of climate change -- are stalling in developed countries.”
The EU’s Copernicus Climate Change have no difficulty reconciling this non-sequitur as a given ‘truth’.
It is quite sad that the intellectual laziness of the 'Climate Change' groupthink leaves climate scientists unable to explain what causes the spikes - particularly the two largest in the satellite era - other than man-made Global Warming.
